Abour River Rafting

We make use of 2 man inflatable rafts called Crocs. Lifejackets and helmets are provided and we also supply a cooler box and dry bins to keep your personal belongings dry.

A safety talk as well as paddling instructions is part of the safety precautions. No alcohol is allowed on or before a rafting or abseiling event.

When the river level gets too high, we make use of bigger rafts. Trained guides will accompany all groups.

Tours from Parys

  • Town to Rocky Ridge: 3 to 3½ hours (big Daddy)
  • Rocky Ridge to Gatsien: 2½ to 3 (very active)

Vaal River at Vaal Dam

This water originates from the Vaal Dam and is always at a good level as well as excellent water quality . You have 2 fun options:
  • A 2 hour (short) trip, including the famous Vischgat and an excellent weir.
  • 4 Hour trip including “the shoot” and all the above rapids. A lunch is available on request.
It is a good alternative for Parys when water levels are low. We can combine the rafting with quads, paintball and other fun/team building activities.

This is one of the best stretches on the Orange river with a great variety of rapids grade 1 to 3. You will seldom meet another human being, a real wilderness area.
  • 4 to 8 days of white water rafting
  • 54 to 80m abseiling
  • Guest house and campsite
  • Scenic desert mountains
  • Good white water (family friendly)
  • Best camping spots on the Orange (Up to 5 star river speak)
  • Sleep next to the Khoem-Khoem falls
  • Overgrown islands and channels
  • Abundant wildlife

Ash River

The Ash is a crystal clear river reminiscent of some scene from Northern America just a perfect river cruise line destination. Also called the little Zambezi, it sports grade 3 to 5 rapids. The water originates from the Khatsi Dam in Lesotho.

We meet in Clarens in the Eastern Free State and start rafting (5 to 7 man rafts) just after the water clears the tunnel. It takes 5 to 6 hours and we get out at a bridge between Clarens and Bethlehem. Light lunch and refreshments are included. In Clarens and on nearby farms there are a variety of activities and accommodation available. Lots of great abseiling and quadbiking options in the vicinity.
