Hopetown/ Hellsgate route (Orange River)
From Sandton 611km (Near Kimberley)
The Orange River runs in a gorge creating good rapids. Hells gate, Hubbly Bubbly and Sideways Sarel are some of the bigger rapids on this route. No rapids are compulsory to run and are graded from 2 to 4.
Distances between overnight spots (camp sites) are relative short and a rustic camp is available before/or during the tour at additional cost.
In September and October game abounds next to the river looking for greener pastures on the banks. High cliffs allows for good nesting sites of black and fish eagles.
